Earth experienced a similar solar incident in 2005, when a G4-level event (yep, solar storms have categories like tornadoes and hurricanes) in September caused mild disruption to radio waves and devices dependent upon them.
That was nearly 20 years ago, though, and technology has evolved since then, making it less susceptible to disruptions of frequency-based technology and devices.
The most vulnerable sectors are communications and satellite based systems, like GPS, though there is marginal risk of electric pulses that may disrupt the energy sector.
